When we say old school camping, people imagine all sorts of things.
Something uncomfortable.

At Camp Vodenca, old school camping doesn’t mean going backwards.
It means going back to nature. On purpose.
Old school camping means peace and nature
For us, old school camping is about enjoying nature and the calm that comes with it.
Real nature. Real silence. The kind of peace you notice after a few hours, not immediately.
There are no big swimming pools in our camp.
Not because we forgot to build one.
But because loud splashing and crowded pool areas don’t really fit the idea of slowing down.
There is no animation program either.
No loud music.
No scheduled fun.
Here, nature is the animation.
The forest around you.
The river nearby.
The way the light changes throughout the day.
And honestly, it does a better job than any microphone ever could.
Why we don’t have a restaurant in the camp
Another thing that surprises people:
we don’t offer a restaurant inside Camp Vodenca.
(Pssst … we do have a little bar, just to take care of you with a morning coffee and evening beer.)
This is very intentional.
We believe that discovering local restaurants in the Soča Valley is part of the camping experience.
Trying different places.
Meeting local people.
Eating where life actually happens.
Also, let’s be honest.
Eating the same menu every day on holiday isn’t exactly exciting.
What we do offer instead
Some of the best things about old school camping don’t show up on booking filters.
We offer amazing night skies.
With very little light pollution, star gazing here is on a completely different level.
The kind that makes you stop scrolling and just look up.
We offer birds as your morning alarm clock.
And yes, they are very consistent.
No snooze button, but also no stress.
We offer space.
Space to slow down.
Space to breathe.
Space to do nothing without feeling guilty about it.
Old school camping also means being present
Old school camping at Camp Vodenca also means something very simple:
we notice you.
We know when you arrive.
We’ll probably ask how your day went.
And we might suggest a place you didn’t plan to visit.
Not because we want to organize your holiday.
But because we care how it feels.
What old school camping is NOT
Let’s be clear.
Old school camping is not:

packed with activities

about having everything in one place
And it’s definitely not for everyone.
If you’re looking for constant entertainment, background noise from morning to night, and a full daily schedule, Camp Vodenca might not be your place.
But if waking up with birds, ending your day under the stars, and letting nature set the pace sounds like a relief…
then you’ll probably understand us immediately.
